インドゴルフユニオンの公式サイト
【沿革】
The Indian Golf Union is the apex body of golf in the country and is responsible for the promotion and development of golf in India. Starting with only six golf clubs at the beginning, we boast of 194 golf clubs and many more under planning.
Some senior golfers in Calcutta took the initiative and with the support of golfers in Delhi, Mumbai and Madras formed the IGU on 20 Dec 1955. The object for which the Union was established were mainly to promote the game of golf in India and the maintenance in every way possible of high standards of the game.
Until then and for many years since the inception in 1829 of the second oldest golf course in the world outside of UK, Royal Calcutta Golf club was virtually managing the affairs of golf in India. RCGC instituted and started which became a prestigious Trophy “All India” in 1892 and the East India there after. Senior members of RCGC realized that for the growth of Indian Golf, more tournaments in all the main centers were needed apart from developing junior programs and sending teams abroad for the International Events. This gave rise to the idea of forming the IGU. In spite of the permanency, which the club enjoyed, it agreed to the foundation of the Union and to the handing over of whatever powers it might have yielded until then, including the privilege of conducting the Amateur Golf Championship of India which had been inaugurated by the club and also donated the trophy.
Mr AD Vickers was the first President of the IGU who worked untiringly to bring the Union into being and who was mainly responsible for the preparation of the Rules and regulations of the IGU.
Major LB Hirst, who was the Secretary of the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, became the first Secretary of IGU. In 1957 it was agreed to appoint an Honorary Secretary and Mr PR Surita became the first Honorary Secretary of IGU.
In 1957 a training scheme for Assistant Professional and Caddies form all over the country under George Willard, the then Pro at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club was instituted and the trainees were given a thorough grounding in teaching golf and in the art of club making and repairs. Another significant move was the inauguration of Inter Zonal championship for which a trophy was instituted by the legendary golfer of India Mr IS Malik.
In 1958 was another significant move when the All India Amateur championship was held at Delhi Golf club for the first time out side of Calcutta where it was held from 1892.
India started participating in the World Cup (Eisenhower Cup) from its inception in 1958 has continued till date. Similarly India also started participating at the Nomura cup, Asia Pacific Golf Championship from its inception in 1963 and continues till date. In 1973 India won the Nomura Cup. Golf was introduced in the Asian Games in 1982 and India won 2 gold medals and 1 Silver medal in the inaugural year and repeated the feat again in 2002 Asian Games held in Korea by winning 1 Gold medal and in 2006 won the team silver medal.
The IGU holds 12 – 14 categorized tournaments every year for the men’s and 10 events for the Juniors. Few additional tournaments like the Inter state Championship, Inter School and Inter Collage have also been introduced recently..
IGU started the Indian Professional circuit in 1975 and managed it till 1996 when IGU asked Mr. S. Lal(Bandy Lal), a former IGU council member and Chairman of IGU Selection Committee, to form the PGAI.
The Indian Open one of the most prestigious event on the Asian tour was introduced in 1964 and is held annually ever since. Most of the leading professionals from Asia Pacific region and Europe and USA participate in this coveted event. The Indian Open today is a US 1.5 million dollar event.
The IGU also brought the European Tour to India with Indian Masters a 2.5 million US Dollar prize money and the inaugural championship was won by SSP Chaurasia. It was indeed a red letter day in the history of Indian Golf.
The game of golf in India has been spiraling at rapid pace and is perhaps one of most popular game after cricket / Tennis amongst the youngsters.
IGU has introduced number of initiatives for promotion of game of golf and also to upgrade the standard of the game to the best in the world. Towards this effort, a coaching programme under the aegis of R&A the governing body of golf in the world was started in 2005 to train the teaching professionals and to classify them. As of now we have classified over 200 teaching professionals including some from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The National Golf Academy has formally being inaugurated on 26 Nov 08 at the Chandigarh Golf Association Range in Chandigarh
IGU regularly conducts Coaching Programs both at the grass root level as well as camp of excellence in all 5 zones of the IGU for the juniors. A structured Junior porgramme under the able guidance of Mr Dominic Wall was also launched in all the zones of the country. A National High Performance Manager has also been inducted in the IGU as adviced by Mr Wall.
IGU also brought the Referees school for the first time to India in 2002 and this programme is expected to further increase the standards of the most essential part in conduct of tournaments across the country.
IGU has made provision in its constitution to affiliate State associations which have the same objective as the IGU has in order to take the game of golf to every nook and corner of the country. State and interstate championships are being introduced.
The Indian Golfers both amateurs and professionals have created a mark in the international arena. Most of the professional golfers in the country have risen through the rungs of the IGU ladder and are doing well for themselves and keeping the tri -color flying high.
Rashid Khan won the Faldo series Asia round twice. Rahul Bakshi won the Faldo series grand finale in his category in Brazil. Rolex have come on board of the IGU as the official time keeper and have contributed handsomely for next five years for the IGU programmes. R & A will assist financially in conduct of the Greens keepers course for the next three years.
The IGU Council is headed by a President and has 23 Council members including 6 nominees of the founder clubs and 5 Army Zone members and 12 from the 4 Zones.Secretariat has a Director General,Secretary General and Director Marketing.

【NGCOAについて】
THE NGCOA IS A VALUABLE SOURCE OF INFORMATION AND EDUCATION FOR THE INDUSTRY’S GOLF COURSE OWNERS AND OPERATORS.
Owners and operators of golf courses throughout the U.S. and the world – from those who run 9-hole facilities in rural locations to owners of the largest golf course portfolios in the most popular golf destinations – look to the National Golf Course Owners Association as a valuable source for information and education, and an advocate for their best interests.
Established in 1979 and headquartered in Charleston, S.C., the NGCOA is the leading authority on the business of golf course ownership and management. The Association represents the industry’s key decision makers with ultimate responsibility for golf courses throughout the world. The not-for-profit organization is the only trade association dedicated exclusively to golf course owners and operators.
Membership of the NGCOA includes owners and operators of daily-fee, semi-private, private and resort courses. While diverse in its makeup, the Association serves as a resource for a critical need shared by all owners and operators in today’s ever-changing golf industry: information and inspiration on how to operate their facilities as efficiently and profitably as possible.

<Formation Of The Asian PGA>
Before the first ball was struck on the Asian PGA Tour, weeks, months and years of planning were involved. The one event, however, which stands out during the early days was the first meeting which took place between Ramlan Haron and Seamus O'Brien.
The two met in October of 1993 in the Holiday Inn in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to discuss the formation of the Asian PGA. So solid was their conviction that a newly-formed Asian PGA would succeed, and so fruitful were their discussions, that they signed and dated the napkin on which they had been scribbling their ideas. It was the true beginning of the Asian PGA.
■The first Asian PGA Board Meeting:
In July, 1994, the Asian PGA was officially formed during an historic meeting in Hong Kong attended by PGA representatives from eight Asian countries - Hong Kong, India, Korea, Myanmar, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore.
■Launch of the Asian PGA Tour:
The Asian PGA Tour teed-off on June 22, 1995, with The International in Pattaya, Thailand. The first tee shot was struck, appropriately, by one of Thailand's and Asia's greatest golfers, Boonchu Ruangkit. The tournament was staged at Sriracha Golf Club and was won by Korea's Park Nam-sin.
■Asian PGA joins world elite:
In 1998 the outstanding progress made by the Asian PGA was recognised when it was invited by the PGA Tours international Federation to become its sixth member. The landmark development was announced at a press conference prior to the British Open where top officials from the world's leading Tours attended. The PGA Tours International Federation was formed in March 1996 by the US PGA Tour, the PGA European Tour, the PGA Tour of Japan, the PGA Tour of Australasia and the Southern Africa PGA Tour.
■Tour structure:
The Asian PGA is the governing body that sanctions and runs the Asian PGA Tour. The head office of the Asian PGA is located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This office is responsible for co-ordinating the playing professionals, the event golfing operations, and the future development of the Asian PGA Tour.
